THE UNDERCOVER HIPPY
Doors 8.30pm - 2am
Bristol favorite Billy Rowan, aka The Undercover Hippy, is returning to The Attic with his full 5 piece band to once again create the worlds only conscious reggae moshpit! His unique brand of politically driven acoustic roots-reggae folk-hop has made him a highlight of the U.K. festival scene, and seen him getting airplay on Rodigan's show on 1Xtra in recent weeks. Combining intelligent, provocative lyrics with dangerously catchy hooks and a feel good groove, this is music for the thinking man to shake his arse to.
"This is about as real as music gets" - Andrew Marston, BBC Introducing.
The Iscatels are an original live band from Exeter that retain the fundamental rhythms of reggae at the heart of their music and yet manage to cross seamlessly into dub and ska, adding splashes of drum & bass at will, while mixing in effects and electronic sounds of the modern era. The songs are heartfelt and very well crafted using interesting chord progressions, huge bass riffs, bluesy guitar licks, earthy percussion and seriously catchy melodies.
Since forming in 2009 the band have already played on festival stages at the likes of The Secret Garden Party and Beautiful Days among many others and have graced the stages of Bristol O2 Academy as well as The London O2 Millennium Dome. They have built a strong and loyal fan base through gigging the Devon circuit relentlessly at venues such as Exeter Phoenix, sharing stages with Zion Train, Ska Cubano, Babyhead, Soom T, Solo Banton and Transglobal Underground. The plan now is to take the band to new heights around the UK and abroad.
