Chainska Brassika, Smiley & The Underclass, Kaptin Is Dead

CHAINSKA BRASSIKA SMILEY & THE UNDERCLASS KAPTIN IS DEAD DJ HIPHOPOPOTOMUS - Full Moon Doors 8.30pm - 2am Free before 9.30pm £3 after ChainSka Brassika are 9 school friends from South East London who bring the party wherever they go with their ska-fuelled, high energy concoction of blaring horns, soaring vocals and jump up rhythms. Their lively old-school sound combines with cutting edge lyricism and a unique engaging stage presence that commands the crowd to their feet. Their debut EP, ‘Unwind’ has seen national airplay from David Rodigan on his BBC Radio 1xtra show, whom played every single track, including current single, ‘Summer Dubbin’, also on Simon Raymonde’s Amazing Radio show. They’re soon heading back into the studio to record their debut album, which will be ready for a spring release. ChainSka have shared stages with The Skatalites, Musical Youth, Dawn Penn, Rebelution, and The Abyssinians. They’ve had knees flying at Glastonbury Festival, Boomtown, Secret Garden, One Love and Bestival to name but a few. This year they ventured oversees to Bababoom festival in Italty, stopping in France and Switzerland along the way to play to delighted crowds of newly crowned ChainSka heads. Punk-roots-rockers, Smiley and The Underclass, emerged two years ago from the melting pot of West London’s Ladbroke Grove as the sound of 21st Cen- tury multicultural London. Echoing the rebellious call-to- arms of The Clash and Dylan, George Smiley sings the revolu- tion blues with a burning fire largely missing from today’s mundane modern music scene. Ingenious, innovative lyricism punktuates the skank of urgent guitars, driven by relentless rhythms guaranteed to put holes in your shoes.
