After a 12 year gap, electronica duo Pitch Black make a welcome return to Bristol in collaboration with Chk One.

This March 23rd CHK One, the digital electronic music platform and club night, will be collaborating with New Zealand electronica pioneers Pitch Black for a special one off gig at the The Full Moon and Attic Bar

Joining them on the night will be 5th Spear and DJ's Nimi and Kid Blue

Pitch Black are award winning multimedia artist Michael Hodgson and Salmonella Dub producer Paddy Free, A combination of musical journeys, their sound is distinctive; ranging from organic ambient beginnings and layered soundscapes to skanking keyboards, cutting acid riffs and thumping rhythmic grooves, with dub being the glue that holds their sound together.

Their latest album, ‘Filtered Senses’ (Dubmission Records), was described by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Nemone as ”gorgeous”, by Germany’s Beat as sounding “like stardust in stereo” and by the Ambient Music Guide as “a deft mixture of force and understatement”.

5th Spear is Cardiff electronic producer Philip Blake. After a productive 2014 which saw him write and publish over 40 tracks he filtered the list into ‘Year One’, a free-to-download collection of his favourites which works remarkably well as a coherent set and charts a varied and progressive course. Lush synths, chiming melodies and thoughtful downtempo beats suggest a love for Brainfeeder dons Flying Lotus and Thundercat, Mount Kimbie, the warm, retro-flavoured luminosity of Luke Abbott and the spacier end of the Warp Records catalogue; forward-thinking head music with a dayglo pop heart.

5th Spear has successfully continued to headline Cardiff venues throughout 2016, as well as sharing a stage with Brainfeeder’s Lapalux earlier in the year. His second album ‘Year Two’ was released early October 2016.
